CHAP Historic District

Unable to attend last month, we have again invited Eric Holcomb, a City Planner with CHAP (Commission for Historical & Architectural Preservation), to educate us on the historic rehabilitation tax credits that are available from the City for designated historic districts.  Along with the benefits come required guidelines that must be followed by everyone performing renovations and updates on a home in a CHAP designated historic district.

The CHAP Mission is to enhance and promote the culture and economy of Baltimore through the preservation of buildings, structures, sites and neighborhoods that have aesthetic, historic and architectural value.

The question has come up; do we want to apply for designation of the Federal Hill South Neighborhood as a CHAP historic district? Do we want both the tax benefits and the design restrictions imposed by CHAP?  Will this help preserve the “aesthetic, historic and architectural value” of our neighborhood?

Come hear the presentation and join in the discussion.
