First Joint Public Safety Meeting (FHSNA/FHNA) - Feb. 7

posted Feb 7, 2013, 9:35 AM by Fina Santa-Maria

On Thursday, February 7, at 6:00 p.m., Federal Hill South Neighborhood Association (FHSNA) and Federal Hill Neighborhood Association (FHNA) will be holding their first-ever joint Public Safety meeting, as part of an effort to work more closely on the many crime and safety issues we have in common. The meeting will be held at the Prudential YWGC office at 1011 Light Street.

Mellisa Colimore, FHNA’s Public Safety Chair, initiated the idea to join forces. She had this to say about it:

As we formulate this committee, we shall set out goals, set deadlines, respond to any neighbors’ requests, and continue to participate in COP [Citizens on Patrol] walks, as well as attend FHNA [and FHSNA] and SDPCRC [Southern District Policy Community Relations Council] monthly meetings, maintain a relationship with Guardian Angels, and continue to work with the Southern District and the Explorers. This list may appear long, but it truly is about keeping our eyes and ears open and talking to our neighbors. Also, so as to not scare you, everyone can take a piece. We will take turns attending meetings. Volunteer for an area that interests you or that you know you can dedicate some time. IF each person takes a small piece, we can only make things better as a whole. Thank you to everyone for your input and willingness to better our community!

This meeting is open to anyone in FHSNA who is interested in being a part of our ongoing effort to work with the police and other community leaders to ensure the safety of our neighborhood. If you would like to attend, please let Dave Hirst ( and Sarah Humphreys ( know. It would be great for FHSNA to show up with a willing contingent of public safety enthusiasts!
