Mission

To coordinate the activities associated with the Residential Permit Parking Program for Area 19 and to seek out other opportunities to improve the parking challenges in our neighborhood.

Activities

  • Conduct annual parking permit renewal for Area 19.
  • Facilitate the process for adding new blocks to Area 19.
  • Participate on the Residential Permit Parking (RPP) Advisory Board to keep current on the latest rules and regulations and to recommend changes to the Parking Authority's RPP office to help improve the RPP program.
  • Educate residents on the rules and regulations that apply to Area 19 parking.
  • Inform residents of any changes or developments in or around our neighborhood that might impact the parking situation in Federal Hill South.

Calendar

The Area 19 parking permits and visitor passes are valid from May 1 through April 30 and must be renewed each year. Parking renewal sign-ups are conducted in the neighborhood during February and March and the new permits and passes are distributed in April. The scheduled dates are announced in the neighborhood newsletter.

For the permit period starting May 1, 2002, the renewal sign-ups have already been completed and the permits have been distributed. If you need a permit, please contact the Baltimore City Parking Office at 410/ 396-3042.

Latest News

For those residents who have already submitted their application, parking permits and visitor passes will be available for pickup on the following days:

April 22 (Tuesday) 5:30-7:30pm Rear Hall of Holy Cross Church

April 26 (Saturday) 9:00-1:00pm Corner of Battery and West (community cleanup day)

April 30 (Wednesday) 5:30-8:00pm Rear Hall of Holy Cross Church

You must bring your yellow copy of the application as your receipt. If you are busy, you can send a friend or neighbor, as long as they bring your yellow copy. If you were one of the few to renew online, you must bring your printed receipt as well as your other documentation which includes your license and current registration.

If you missed all of the neighborhood signup dates, you must go directly to the Parking Office to complete your renewal application and receive your permit. Current permits and visitor passes expire as of April 30.

Hint for Removing Old Decals: Is your windshield covered with old parking decals because you can never get them off? Try using nail polish remover, with acetone, to dissolve the glue and the decal will be easy to remove. Others have said the heat from a hair dryer makes it easy to remove the decal. I like the good old fashioned razor blade scraper. Whatever your technique, remember to remove the old decal and attach your new permit directly to your windshield by May 1 in order to avoid getting that dreaded parking ticket.
